Bay City ISD sets tax rate for upcoming year

Bay City ISD’s Board of Trustees approved the district’s tax rate for the 2020-2021 school year during their regular meeting held virtually Monday night.

The board approved the maintenance and operation (M&O) tax rate of .94250 cents per $100 of valuation and the interest and sinking (I&S) rate of .48890 cents for a total tax rate of $1.43140.

Considering that most homeowners have been economically crushed by the corona virus, every individual tax bill account should decrease markedly. At least a ten per cent drop in billable amount would seem reasonable. Otherwise, we will see a rash of foreclosures.
