UIL votes down proposal disallowing freshman on varsity squads

During its meeting Tuesday, the University Interscholastic League voted down a proposal that would have dealt a strong blow to small school districts throughout the state including those in Matagorda County.

The proposal would disallow freshman athletes from competing in all varsity sports but it was voted down by the committee Tuesday allowing freshmen to continue to play in varsity sports.
