Bay City police officer Jerome Estrada, 34, of El Campo, was arrested by another BCPD officer and jailed for driving while intoxicated Friday, July 28 at 4:00 in the morning. A spokesman for the department confirmed the arrest.
According to BCPD, an officer was alerted to a possible intoxicated driver coming into the city limits from north Highway 60.
A car matching the description given to police pulled into a fast food parking lot. Officer John Holloway saw Estrada leave the vehicle and stopped to talk to him.
As he did, Holloway smelled the strong odor of alcohol on Estrada and administered a field sobriety test.
Holloway concluded Estrada was intoxicated and arrested him for Driving While Intoxicated. He was later booked into the Matagorda County jail.
Estrada posted bail the following day with $1,000 bond and charged with a Class B Misdemeanor.
