Local Babe Ruth teams ousted from ETS tourney

The 16-year-old and 18-year-old East Texas State Babe Ruth Baseball Tournaments were com­­pleted at Arthur Stewart Field over the weekend.

Bay City's 18-year-old team dropped an 11-0 decision to Wharton Sunday afternoon in the championship game.

Wharton had beat Bay City 20-10 early in the day, scoring 12 runs in the fourth inning to come from behind.

Craig Wilson was three for four with a double. Dalton Sanders was two for three with a three run triple. Andrew Pena was two for four and scored two runs.

Bay City beat Wharton 8-5 in a first round game Saturday after Wharton beat Mid County in the tournament opener on Friday.

Matt Rocha was one for four with a three run double. Chad Barrett was two for four with two doubles. Craig Wilson was three for four with a double. Dalton Sanders was two for four with a three run triple and Charles Klepac pitched a complete game.

Bay City's 16-year-old team dropped a 4-3 decision to Mid County on Saturday night.

Jacob Lara was three for three with an RBI double and A.J. Flores was one for three with an RBI double.

Mid County beat Bay City 9-6 in the first game of the series on Friday night.

Flores was two for four with a two run triple and scored two runs. Lara was three for four with two RBIs and two runs and Chuck Seals was two for four with an RBI.

Bay City bounced back to win the second game on Saturday 2-0.

Lara pitched a complete game, striking out 10 and giving up three hits.

Flores, Jeff Crawford and Austin Smith had hits in the fifth to spark a two run rally.
