Critter Camp gives kids time with animals
From staff reports
Bay City Tribune
Published June 28, 2009
Texas Blessings Animal Rescue in Blessing, Texas is proud to announce its fourth annual Critter Camp on Saturday, July 18.
Critter Camp is coordinated this year with help from the Peaceful Blue Planet Foundation and their"Earth Adventures" program.
This year's title is "Critter Camp Pow-Wow" and the theme and menu are Native American.
Critter Camp participants rotate through several learning stations for a hands-on-experience with animals and the ecosystem.
Children participate in many learning stations including a nature trail, horse safety and riding, wildlife rescue, domestic animal care, pond life and ecosystem (fishing and boating), and arts and crafts.
Participants are fed lunch and healthy snacks throughout the day and each participant is given a Critter Camp T-shirt.
Camp tuition is $50 per child and scholarship sponsors are needed.
No child will be denied admission to their first-time camp experience due to lack of funds.
Proceeds help feed and care for the animals at Texas Blessings' animal sanctuary.
This year's date was chosen to correspond with Bay City's monthly Market Days which, along with other local shopping, dining, and sight-seeing opportunities, gives out-of-area parents the option to spend time at local attractions after they drop their children off for the day-long camp experience.
Critter Camp is offered to students ages five through 18 and is intended to further Texas Blessings' mission statement:
To encourage compassion, dignity and kindness toward all creatures and the natural world they inhabit;
To inspire those values in others through a broad range of educational programs and scholarships;
To demonstrate those values by the operation of an all-species sanctuary and shelter where hunger is replaced with plenty, cold is replaced with warmth, fear is replaced with trust, wounds are healed, and all creatures are made whole again.
Enroll now, space is limited.
