Cats 1-3 in tourney

The Blackcats fell out in the first game of the consolation finals Saturday when Angleton beat them 64-41. Bay City went 1-3 in their host tournament, winning just the last game in their pool.
Galena Park was the Cats’ first opponent in pool play and Bay City was dropped 49-43 after blowing a nine-point halftime lead.
The Blackcats were down 12-10 after the first period then exploded in the second for an 18-7 run in the second. The Yellow Jackets went up and tied it at 36.
Bay City fell apart in the fourth and missed shots throughout, giving Galena Park the win. C.J. Patterson led scoring with 10 points.
The Cats fell to Wharton 50-42, this time giving up a five-point first quarter edge. The Tigers took a 27-25 edge at halftime and Bay City fell behind by more in the second half. Shaun Rutherford posted 15 points.
BC’s lone win was a 62-48 victory over West Columbia, dropping the Roughnecks’ record to 1-8 on the season.
The Blackcats led by just four after one period and took a 30-15 lead by intermission. They gave up 33 points to the Roughnecks in the second half, but escaped with the win. Francis Frank had 14 points for BC.
Angleton beat Bay City 64-41, leading the entire game, in the Cats’ final game of the tournament. Rutherford was the team’s high-scorer with just nine points.
