USAF Band of West to play Aug. 14

Dimensions in Blue, the jazz ensemble from the United States Air Force Band of the West, will present a concert at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 14, at the Bay City Civic Center. The performance is free of charge and open to the public.
This group performs a wide variety of music ranging from the classics of Duke Ellington, Count Basie and Woody Herman, to the more contemporary sounds of Rob McConnell, Bob Mintzer and Frank Mantooth.
The band also can recreate the look and sound of the 1940s Glenn Miller Army Air Corps Jazz Band.
Dimensions in Blue performs in high schools, universities and community-relations tours throughout Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and Louisiana.
They have been featured performers at the Texas Jazz Festival, the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention, the International Association of Jazz Educators Convention, the Corpus Christi Jazz Festival, the Galveston Jazz Festival and San Antonio's "Fiesta In Blue" activities.
The members of the band are highly skilled professional musicians coming from colleges and universities all over the nation to serve in the U.S. Air Force.
While the performance is free, tickets are required to guarantee a seat.
