McDonald to run for re-election

Published December 7, 2009

Nate McDonald has filed to seek reeelection to a second term as the County Judge for Matagorda County.

McDonald looks forward to continuing the progress made toward uniting Matagorda County behind the goal of moving forward into creation of opportunity for all of its citizens.  "We have the natural assets, work ethic and good people to make Matagorda County the preeminent rural county in Texas. Together, we can accomplish this and more," said McDonald.

"Many important needs are being addressed, with the mouth of the Colorado River project starting construction on December 7, the new Matagorda Regional Medical Center (MRMC) having opened earlier this year, the Palacios Community Medical Center's Rural Health Clinic having opened for business and the new partnership forged between MEHOP and MRMC being just a few of the projects now underway to better serve our citizens."

"We have also just graduated our first class from the Bay City campus of Wharton County Junior College, and look forward to its continued growth.  We must not rest on these accomplishments alone, as we have much more work to do. Securing ample water supplies for our agriculture producer's futures is imperative to preserve and grow the business that defines Matagorda County,"  McDonald said.

He will continue to work with our growers to insure the success of the agriculture industry in the future.

"We must also continue to work with our partners at the South Texas Nuclear Project (STNP) in furtherance of their plans to build the first new nuclear reactors in America in nearly three decades, and it is important that we assure their growth in our market. Their building here will bring many new jobs, new tax base and attract those amenities that our citizens have asked for," McDonald said.

"We are now in negotiation with many businesses in this amenity set and will continue that dialogue until we have succeeded."

"I enjoy very much serving the citizens of Matagorda County and I am completely dedicated to helping make this the most successful county it can possibly be. Furthermore, I look forward to the March 2, 2010, primary election and November 2, 2010, general election and humbly ask for your support in my bid to continue  serving as your County Judge," he said.
