William Herbert Latham

April 24, 1932 - March 31, 2018

“Doc” William Herbert Latham, 85 of Moss Bluff, LA went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 31, 2018.

He will best be remembered for his fun-loving personality and his sense of humor. He was a devoted husband, affectionate father, loving grandfather, great-grandfather and a loyal friend to many. Doc instilled in his children a strong work ethic and the importance of close family ties.

Doc was born April 24, 1932, in Sulphur Springs, TX to Cecil and Artie B. Latham.  He joined the Navy in 1951 and served as a Seaman on the USS Hickox. He later met the love of his life Doris, marrying in 1956 and began raising their two children. Doc was soon employed with Halliburton and in 1966 they moved to Moss Bluff, LA where the most joyous times of his life were spent fishing, vacationing with family, woodworking, and taking leisurely trips with Doris to the casino.

Doc will be greatly missed by his daughter, Sherry Latham Livingston (Mike) of Moss Bluff; sister, Faye Winters (Leo) of Boyd, TX; daughter-in-law, Jean Latham Barker of Bristol, TN; five grandchildren, Buck Livingston (Lacy), Laura Livingston Parker (Lenny), Allison Livingston, Michael Livingston and Patrick Latham; four great-grandsons; and many treasured nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Doris; son, Kelly Duane Latham; two sisters, Virginia Lee Latham and Charlene Strickland.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hixson Funeral Home of Moss Bluff.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Theodore Catholic Church on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 1 p.m., with graveside services following at Old Ritchie Cemetery.

The family wants to express their sincere gratitude to his devoted primary care giver and friend, Penny Davis and also to Lisa Floyd, Skylar Ewing and Arlissa Byers.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to one’s charity of choice.
