Edith Unez Richardson Hurta, 90, of Midfield passed away September 26, 2012.

She was born February 7, 1922 in Midfield, Texas to the late Samuel Ruben Richardson and Emmie Irene Martin Richardson. She was a 1939 graduate of Blessing High School and worked 22 years as Tax Assessor/Collector for Tidehaven ISD. She was a member of Midfield Community Church, the Easter Star #380, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Edith is preceded in death by: her husband of 47 years, Frank Joe Hurta, Sr.; sisters, Violet Talafuse and Betty Mott; and three brothers, Lolar Lee Richardson, Bill Richardson, and “Bugger” Richardson.

Survivors include: three daughters, Priscilla Wayman, Susie Hamlin and Gay Rayburn; three sons, Frank J. Hurta, Jr. and wife D’Ann, Bill Hurta and wife Anna and Sam Hurta; brother, Alton Richardson; 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and special nieces Ann Fatheree and Laverne Hicks.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at the Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Midfield Community Church with Rev. Don Storey officiating.

Interment will follow at Midfield Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Christopher McKinley, Andrew McKinley, Jeffery Hurta, Bruce Hurta, Bryan Hurta and Jared Hurta. Honorary pallbearers will be Shelton Lee Hebert Jr., Terri McKinley, Kristi Hamlin, Elaine Fagner, Rachel Hurta, Shawn Barrett, Russell Hicks, Jordan Hurta, Jamie Sliva, Mark Richardson, and Lauren Hurta.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Houston Hospice of El Campo and the staff at The Legacy for the kindness and care they gave to Edith.

Memorials may be made to Midfield Cemetery Association, Midfield Community Church or Houston Hospice of El Campo.
