Bonnie Jean Macdowell

Bonnie Jean Macdowell was born on June 1, 1937, to Nancy Mae Bennett and Ardel Crawford in Macclenny, Florida.

On February 17, 1956, Bonnie married Finis “Mac” Macdowell in Georgia. They celebrated 56 years of marriage together before Mac’s passing in July of 2012.

Bonnie spent many years working as a bookkeeper for the companies HEB, Albertsons, TWR Communications, and Grainger. She loved to bake.  Her cakes looked like they should be on the cover of Southern Living Magazine and were just as tasty.  Bonnie also enjoyed sewing, tending to her house plants, and cheering on her favorite basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs.

On January 8, 2019, Bonnie passed away in Katy, Texas, at 81 years of age. Her family loves her dearly and misses her so very much.

Bonnie is survived by her sons, Art Macdowell and wife Irene of Pleasanton, Texas, Bill Macdowell and wife Tami of Victoria, Texas, Mike Macdowell and wife Kjristi of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter, Christy Warren and husband Jeff of Katy, Texas; brothers, Amos Crawford of Lake Butler, Florida, and Bobby Crawford of Glen St. Mary, Florida; sister, Betty Burnsed of Jacksonville, Florida; grandchildren, Zachary Warren, Reed Warren, Michael “Bubba” Macdowell, Justin Macdowell, Kimber Filley and husband George IV, Kyle Macdowell and wife Lindsay, Matalyn Macdowell, Kolt Macdowell and Kooper Kellis; great grandchildren, George Filley V, Alice Filley and Jacob Macdowell; as well as other loving family members and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by husband, Finis “Mac” Macdowell; brothers, Dwain Crawford and Auzzie Crawford; sisters, Ruby Allen, Mary Lou Burnsed and Janice Crawford.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, January 13, 2019 at the Schmidt Funeral Home Grand Parkway Chapel in Katy, Texas, with the Rev. C. “MAC” McAllister officiating.

            Interment will take place at a later date at Houston National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Lackland Fisher House in San Antonio, Texas, or Fairmont Hospice.
