James Clifton Sewell

James Clifton Sewell, 92, of Hasema, Texas went to be with the Lord on November 6, 2018. He was born May 18, 1926 in Hasema, Texas to William Clifton Sewell and Tennie Lucille Richardson.
James served in Germany during World War II as a combat engineer constructing bridges to allow access for allied troops. After serving in the war, he returned home and married his beloved wife, Ora Lee Coston Sewell in 1946. He worked as a bridge and building foreman for the Missouri Pacific Railroad that later became Union Pacific Railroad. He retired with Union Pacific Railroad in 1988 after 38 years of service. He enjoyed his retirement by spending time with his grandchildren, camping with family, and growing vast gardens. In the early 1990's, he started the Buckscuffle Delta sugar cane mill with help of family and friends, which was in operation until 1996. In his later years, he enjoyed raising cattle and sharing his vast amount of knowledge with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Ora Lee Coston Sewell; parents, William C. Sewell and Tennie L. Richardson; brother, Ernest "Bud" Sewell; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Jimmy Walker; son-in-law, Vance Lesikar; and grandson, Gary Lesikar.
He is survived by his daughter, Carolyn Lesikar; son, James Glenn Sewell (Brenda); grandchildren, Ginny Lesikar, Jason Sewell (Allison), Kody Sewell (Katherine), and Brandi Sewell; and great grandchildren, Jackson Sewell, Kooper Sewell, and Kaden Sewell.
The family received visitors from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2018 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City, Texas.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2018 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with Dr. Mike Zimmerman officiating.
Graveside services will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck, Texas.
Pallbearers are Jason Sewell, Kody Sewell, Robert Poole, Wesley Sewell, Don Justice, and Paul Hanna.
Honorary Pallbearers include Skipper Osborne, W.R. "Shorty" Thompson Jr., Gordon Hubbard, and Matt Kaiser.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in honor of James C. Sewell to the First Baptist Church in Van Vleck.
