Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle

On Monday, Oct. 1 at approximately 9:14 a.m., a Matagorda County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a location near Bucks Bayou and Norris Camp Road in Bay City in response to a report of a stolen vehicle. The complainant said that a Red 1996 Geo CV Tracker was missing from the property. The complainant said the vehicle was discovered missing on Sept. 28 at 7:30 a.m. and last seen on Thursday at around 5:30 p.m. The vehicle was valued at an estimated $3,000. The MCSO was contacted by the Bay City Police Department with a report of a burned vehicle found on Rugley Street in Bay City on Sept. 29. A check of the vehicle identification number for the burned vehicle was matched to the missing vehicle and the case turned over to the MCSO Criminal Investigation Division.
