Matagorda Regional Medical Center together with South Texas Project Nuclear Operating Company and Matagorda County EMS conducted an exercise Thursday morning, Oct. 4 that allowed them to practice the skills they need to treat a wounded patient with possible radiological contamination.

In the practice scenario, the victim, who was played by Elaine Steele, an STP records management employee, was working inside containment on a fuel handling machine when she fell and took a gash to the head in a potentially contaminated area.
