Trunk or Treat

The Matagorda House Healthcare center will host its Halloween Trunk or Treat from 5 -7 p.m. Oct. 22 at 700 12th street. Wear your costume for a costume contest judged by 6 p.m. for ages 1-5 and 6-12. Food, drinks, games, clowns, rides and a moonwalk will be available. Entertainment will be by DJ Tommy Morton Jr. Decorate your own trunk and please have your vehicle parked early before the event starts for the trunk decoration contest.

BCHS Class of 1975 reunion

The BCHS Class of 1975 40th reunion will be Oct. 23-24. Meet for the Homecoming game on Friday followed by a mixer at Fat Grass. Dinner and a dance will begin at 6 p.m. Saturday. For info on Saturday daytime activities, contact Diana Mathis at 979-240-3200 or Karen Cox at karencox79@gmail.com

5th Annual Boil Blast

The fifth annual Boil Blast will be Oct. 24 at the Matagorda Fireman’s Hall. Gates open at 10 a.m. with a $5 gate admission and $10 food plates. There will be horseshoe, washer and cornhole tournaments and men’s and women’s shrimp eating contest. Vendors, raffles, live auctions and live music will be available. Annual Pumpkin Patch

The Sunshine and Rainbows, 2300 Ave H. at the First United Methodist Church on the corner of Fourth street and Avenue G, will hold their 19th annual Pumpkin Patch fundraiser from 9 a.m.- 1 p.m. Oct. 24. The Pumpkin tickets will be $7 each.

St Peter’s BBQ Turkey and Dressing Dinner

St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing will hold their annual Barbecue Turkey and Dressing Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 25. Serving will start at 11 a.m. at the Parish Hall with dine-in or drive thru available. Plates are $10 each. The menu includes barbeque turkey, dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, dessert, and tea. The live auction will start at 12:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be a raffle and country store. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to join the parishioners of St. Peter’s Catholic Church for a day of fellowship and fun.

Go Purple Campaign

The Crisis Center is leading a county wide Go Purple campaign on Oct. 27. They invite all citizens of Matagorda County to join them in stopping the violence by breaking the silence and wearing purple, or displaying a purple ribbon on this day. Friends of BC Library

The Friends of the Bay City Library will have a quarterly meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 in the Bay City Library. Please join us in the community room as we discuss upcoming events.

Fall Festival

Cedar Lane Baptist Church will host their Fall Festival from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The event will be free with hot dogs and chili, hayrides, fun and games.

Trunk or Treat

St. Paul’s UMC, located at 3102 Fifth Street in Bay City, will hold its annual Trunk or Treat from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

November 14

Give Back Fest!

The Give Back Fest, a community event organized by citizens to give back ticket sales to the food banks of Matagorda County and Wharton County, will be held from 5-10 p.m. Nov. 14 on 4521 Avenue F. There will be live music by Sam and the Clams and more. Free door prizes will be presented and as an open event, you are welcome to bring your own ice chest and refreshments.

November 18

EAC Thanksgiving Lunch

The Economic Action Committee will host its annual Thanksgiving luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Eagles Hall. All senior citizens in Matagorda County are invited. Doors open at 10 a.m.

Blood Drive

M.D. Anderson will host a Blood Drive from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Bay City Service Center. To make an appointment, call Debby at 979-429-0179.

November 24

VFW 2438 Open House

Philip H. Parker Post 2438 and Auxiliary will host an open house and reception from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 24 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the post. The public is cordially invited to tour the post home at 1672 Highway 60 North and view various exhibits that will be on display.
