St Peter’s BBQ Turkey and Dressing Dinner

St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing will hold their annual Barbecue Turkey and Dressing Dinner on Sunday, Oct. 25. Serving will start at 11 a.m. at the Parish Hall with dine-in or drive thru available. Plates are $10 each. The menu includes barbeque turkey, dressing, green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, dessert, and tea. The live auction will start at 12:30 p.m. Additionally, there will be a raffle and country store. The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Everyone is invited to join the parishioners of St. Peter’s Catholic Church for a day of fellowship and fun.

Genealogy Presentation

There will be a presentation on family search and the Texas Records Digitalization Initiative at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26 at the Legacy in Bay City. Under the program, local societies can borrow equipment for up to six months to digitize records for the county, themselves, the community, local churches, funeral homes and others who want their records digitized for preservation.

Go Purple Campaign

The Crisis Center is leading a county wide Go Purple campaign on Oct. 27. They invite all citizens of Matagorda County to join them in stopping the violence by breaking the silence and wearing purple, or displaying a purple ribbon on this day. Friends of BC Library

The Friends of the Bay City Library will have a quarterly meeting at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27 in the Bay City Library. Please join us in the community room as we discuss upcoming events.

Boys & Girls Club Halloween Party

The Boys and Girls Club will have a Halloween Party from 6 – 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. It is a costume party for the kids with face painting and games.

Fall Festival

Cedar Lane Baptist Church will host their Fall Festival from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31. The event will be free with hot dogs and chili, hayrides, fun and games.

Trunk or Treat

St. Paul’s UMC, located at 3102 Fifth Street in Bay City, will hold its annual Trunk or Treat from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.

November 1

Fall Festival

The Nichols Street Fall Festival will be from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1 at 1200 Nichols. Free games, prizes, candy and food.

November 8

Turkey Dinner

CDA Hearty Turkey Dinner will start at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 8at the KC Hall on Main Street in Palacios. Cost is $9 a plate including dessert and tea. Eat in or plates to go. There also will be a raffle.

November 14

Give Back Fest!

The Give Back Fest, a community event organized by citizens to give back ticket sales to the food banks of Matagorda County and Wharton County, will be held from 5-10 p.m. Nov. 14 on 4521 Avenue F. There will be live music by Sam and the Clams and more. Free door prizes will be presented and as an open event, you are welcome to bring your own ice chest and refreshments.

EAC Thanksgiving Lunch

The Economic Action Committee will host its annual Thanksgiving luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Eagles Hall. All senior citizens in Matagorda County are invited. Doors open at 10 a.m.

Blood Drive

M.D. Anderson will host a Blood Drive from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. Nov. 21 at the Bay City Service Center. To make an appointment, call Debby at 979-429-0179.

November 24

VFW 2438 Open House

Philip H. Parker Post 2438 and Auxiliary will host an open house and reception from 5-7 p.m. Nov. 24 to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the post. The public is cordially invited to tour the post home at 1672 Highway 60 North and view various exhibits that will be on display.
