Aquacats Registration

Bay City Aquacats Swimming Registration 2016 for the Bay City Aquacats Summer swim program will be held at the Bay City Public Pool on 16th Street in Bay City on Thursday, April 14, 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, April 19, 5–7 p.m., and Saturday April 23 10 a.m.–2 p.m. After May 2, there will be a $25 late fee added to each swimmer. All swimmers need to bring a copy of their birth certificate to register. Regular Registration Fees: $150 for 1st swimmer, $145 for 2nd swimmer, $135 for 3rd swimmer. Pre-team Registration Fee- $100 pre-team and Adult Registration Fee – entering 9th grade and above-$45. Please see the Bay City Aquacats Facebook page for more information. Catholic Daughters Fundraiser

The Catholic Daughters Court 2546 of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing is sponsoring a chicken spaghetti plate meal. It will be held Sunday, April 17 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church hall in Blessing. Serving begins at 10:30 a.m. until they are sold out. The meal consists of chicken spaghetti, salad, garlic bread and dessert. Plates are $8 each (dine in or out). Tea with dine-in only. The proceeds will benefit the Catholic Daughter scholarship and charities.

Educator’s 500 Club Banquet

The Educators 500 Club will celebrate its 29th Annual Scholarship Banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Days Inn Bay City located on 407 Seventh Street. Guest speaker will be Thomas Randle, the Superintendent of Lamar Consolidated.

Community Safety Expo

Matagorda/Wharton LEPC Community Safety EXPO will be from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at the WCJC Bay City Campus, 1000 Avenue F. Free food and drinks will be served by Salvation Army. There also will be kids activities, various appearances of first responders, International booth setups and guest appearance by meteorologists from FOX26.

Beach Cleanup

The Spring Beach Cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 23 at the Jetty Park, Matagorda Beach.

CCA Kidsfish Tournament

The Lower Colorado Chapter of CCA will host their 6th Annual Little Anglers Fishing Tournament, formerly known as KidFish, on Saturday, April 23 at Matagorda Harbor. This is a free event for all Matagorda County kids 14 years and younger and is intended to get them outdoors to enjoy the sport of fishing. Registration starts at 7 a.m. at the harbor or early registration can be obtained at Busha Boat Works in Bay City. Hot dogs, chips, ice cream and drinks will be served for lunch. St. John’s Youth Fundraiser Fun Day

The St. John’s Youth Fundraiser Fun Day will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 23 in the field across from St. John’s Baptist Church in Van Vleck. There will be a volleyball tournament ($50 entry fee) with trophies for first, second and third place. There also will be a praise dance and singing contest, dominoes and card games. Chicken basket, fish basket, nachos and hot dogs will be the food choices. Bay City ISD will conduct a Private Non-profit Meeting at 10 a.m. Monday, April 25 at the BCISD Administration Building.

Celanese Retirees Club Dinner

The Semi-annual Retirees Club Dinner will be Thursday, April 28 in the Bay City Country Club Ball Room beginning at 6 p.m. A complete buffet dinner will be served consisting of a choice of Chicken Fried Steak or Grilled Chicken Breast, with potatoes, vegetables, etc., at a cost of $13/person, which includes beer and wine. Crafts for Life Skill Students

Annual Blessing Day

Annual Blessing Day will be Sunday, May 1 at the Blessing Community Center. The event will have BBQ Chicken plates for $9, tea and dessert included. The serving will be from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. The parade will begin at 2 p.m. and the Horseshoe Tournament at 1:30 p.m. Raffle drawing and live music by The Lazy Farmers will be available. Dessert donations will be greatly appreciated, please bring them the day of the event.

Bark in the Park

For the Love of Animals will hold their annual Bark in the Park Saturday, May 14 in LeTulle Park. Dr. Davant’s rabies clinic sponsored by the Bay City Feed Store will run from 8 - 11 a.m. The first dog is free; there will be a small charge for each additional dog. Toenail clipping will be offered for $10 and microchipping for $20. There will be pet pictures, a doggie talent show, cakewalk, Frisbee/ball toss, bone guess, paw prints and much more. Contests will include Best Dog Kisses, Owner and Pet Look Alike and Longest Tail. There is a $10 donation per owner/dog team.
