Chamber announces partnership with Tenaris
The Bay City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture announced a new partnership with TenarisBayCity.
Each year, the Chamber awards a scholarship to a Bay City ISD and Van Vleck ISD Student of the Year. Starting with this year’s award winners Tenaris will match the scholarship amount each students receives from the Chamber.
“Education is among Tenaris’s foundational values. Together, through our growing partnership between TenarisBayCity and the Chamber, we will create meaningful opportunities to area youth to advance their career aspirations,” said Luca Zanotti, Tenaris President, USA.
The scholarship money is raised by the Education Committee for the Chamber, their biggest fundraiser is the Chamber Golf Tournament held the 1st Saturday in June.
“Tenaris promised us that education would be the highest consideration for the community when they were looking to locate their new seamless pipe plant.” said Mitch Thames, President of the Chamber.
“We are thrilled to have this opportunity to send our most deserving students to further their education.” Thames continued.
This will not affect the joint TenarisBayCity Student of the Year / Bay City Chamber Scholarship it will be awarded later in the springtime. The applications will be judged and the winner announced as always to a very deserving student.
Each year the Chamber Education Committee seeks 5 student nominees from both Bay City ISD and Van Vleck ISD. Both committee members and Board members conducts interviews with each student. The goal is to find someone who has earned the respect of their teachers and peers and has overcome challenges to be a student leader.
