Bay City’s Davidson earns Offensive MVP

Along with their fourth place finish and a playoff berth in District 13-4A, Bay City was able to claim 13 spot on the district all-district squads.

Leading the way for Bay City was senior quarterback Dylan Davidson, who was named the district’s Offensive MVP. Davidson had a sterling senior season in leading the Blackcats to the playoffs by either passing or running Bay City into a playoff berth.

Joining Davidson on the first-team offense was senior wide receiver James Carter. Carter was Davidson’s main target during the season and came up with numerous clutch catches for the Blackcats this year.

Senior running back Rodney Mitchell also gained a first-team nod. Mitchell’s bruising rushing style was instrumental in keeping defenses honest against Davidson’s passing attempts.

First-team defensive selections went to junior Heart Gaskins at defensive end. Gaskins was a main cog on the defensive line for Bay City this year and should be again next season.

Bay City earned two selections on the first-team linebacker position. Senior Will Grumbles and senior Alex Smith both earned first team nods.

Both played strong defense for the Blackcats all season long and will be sorely missed next season.

Leading the second-team selections was senior defensive end John Pesina. Pesina provided that strong pass rush for Bay City during the season.

Other second-team nods for Bay City went to junior Abel Mendoza and junior wide receiver Carlos Lara. Both are set to return next season for the Blackcats to provide team leadership to the team.

Sophomore kicker Declan O’Neal earned a second-team selection for the Blackcats. O’Neal has a strong leg and made field goals a quality option for Bay City this season.
