The Tidehaven baseball team took care of business in its first-round playoff matchup against Nixon-Smiley last week and advanced to the area round of the 3A playoffs.
The Tigers won the first game 6-3 on Thursday and got a 4-0 shutout on Saturday at Flatonia High School.
Tidehaven will next face Blanco in a best-of-three series, starting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at La Grange High School. The second and possible third games will be on Saturday at 1 p.m. at the La Grange Fairgrounds.
On Thursday, Bryce Galvan got the win on the mound, giving up an earned run and struck out six batters.
Gordo Moreno came out on Saturday and got a complete game shutout, striking out 11 Wildcats. Getting two hits each were Moreno and Sliva, while Jacob Galvan, Call Davant, Chris Rodriguez and Brandon Rozner each got a hit.
Blanco beat Natalia 11-0 in a one-game playoff last week. The Panthers enter the matchup with a record of 13-10.
