Frankson named to BCISD Distinguished Alumni Class of 2018

One very important person’s bio was inadvertently deleted from the article about the Bay City ISD Distinguished Alumni Class of 2018 that appeared in the Sunday, November 4th Tribune. The BCISD Communications Department apologizes for leaving out Diana Kovar Frankson, BCHS Class of 1972 and BCISD Distinguished Alumni Class of 2018.

Mrs. Frankson earned her undergraduate degree from Texas A&M and her Master’s degree from the University of Nebraska. She taught at BCHS for 42 years and was a Wharton County Junior College Adjunct Professor, teaching Dual College Credit Biology and Anatomy & Physiology.

Frankson garnered many awards and recognitions through her career, including Texas Regional Secondary Science Teacher of the Year, BCHS Teacher of the Year, Matagorda County Soil & Water Conservation Teacher of the Year, Runner-up for Texas Conservation Teacher of the Year, Radioshack/Tandy Outstanding Teacher of the Year, and College Board’s Special Recognition Award.

Frankson has also served on State Advisory Committees for Textbook Adoption, State Science Standards and Advanced Placement Program. She’s chaired the Cystic Fibrosis Tennis Tournament, is an officer and tournament director for the Women’s Golf Association, and serves on the I-Naturalist Citizens Biodiversity Watch Group.
