The holiday season is quickly approaching. The holidays are a time of family gatherings, time spent with friends, and a special time to give thanks for our many blessings.

First United Methodist Church of Bay City and Bay City Police Officers are once again putting together a countywide food drive and distribution during the holiday season. The group is asking for your help in the form of cash donations, all tax deductible, to purchase canned goods and non-perishable foods. This is a great opportunity to provide food for children and families that are having difficulty in our trying times, officials said.

This year, the group is asking the community, business owners, schools, and churches to help in collecting canned food and dry food items.  Members of churches and clubs, as well as other individuals, are needed in the process of sorting and preparing the boxes of food.

The boxes will be put together Dec. 13 and the pickup date is set for Dec. 16.
