Tidehaven, Palacios in playoff hunt

With big wins last weekend, both Tidehaven and Palacios have put themselves right in the middle of district playoff talk coming into the final weeks of the season.

With their stunning 30-20 win over Boling last Friday, the Palacios Sharks moved to 1-2 in district play and in a three-way tie for third place with Boling and Hitchcock.

Palacios travels to Hempstead this Friday to take on the Bobcats, which is winless in district play this year at 0-3. A win over Hempstead will put the Sharks in prime position to gain a playoff berth this season.

Tidehaven meanwhile turned back Schulenburg 44-9 to move to 2-2 in District 14-3A play with two games left on the schedule. The Tigers will travel to Ganado this Friday.

A win over Ganado will put the Tigers in a prime spot for a playoff berth in the district with a 3-2 mark with a final home contest against Bloomington on Nov. 9.

Palacios needs to come into this week’s contest with Hempstead and take care of business against the Bobcats.
