Palacios looks to bounce back Friday

Coming off their first loss of the season, Palacios will be looking to get back into the win column this Friday when they travel to take on the Industrial Cobras at 7:30 p.m.

“We made some mental mistakes against a team that came out and played physical with us,” said Palacios Head Football Coach Chad Graves. “We didn’t play a clean game and we had an opportunity to win at the end but we shot ourselves in the foot by not playing fundamentally sound football.”

But all of these mistakes made in the Sharks’ first loss of the season are correctable.

“Those kids are playing really hard right now. They are playing really physical football and we can’t go out and make the same mistakes that we made this past Friday night and expect to beat Industrial.”

Industrial’s offense is paced by junior quarterback Karston Wimberly.

“They are going to get after us and they run a lot of misdirection offensively and that is a tough offense to defend against,” Graves said. “We are going to have to play sound, fundamental football and stay with our keys defensively and we have to force them to make plays in space.”

This contest will mark the final tune-up before the start of district play.

“I was hoping we would have wrapped up non-district play the way we wanted to but with these mental issues we had last week, we have to work on them,” Graves said.
