Bay City falls in two to defending champs


Playing against the defending Class 4A state softball champs, Liberty completed a two-game sweep of Bay City in the area round of the playoffs eliminating the Lady Blackcats from the playoffs.

After dropping the first game 2-0, Bay City came back at Liberty High School and quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning but Liberty came right back with three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-1 lead over Bay City.

Liberty added another run in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead but Bay City came right back with single markers in the fourth and sixth inning but came up just short 4-3 to the Lady Panthers.

Senior Madison Garay was again sterling on the mound for Bay City as the senior three six strong innings while striking out nine in the game.

Alyssa Gonzales led Bay City with two hits and two RBIs.
