Bay City PD swears in new officer


On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the Bay City Police Department held a ceremony to swear in a new police officer.  The ceremony was held in the council chambers with Bay City Police Chief Robert Lister officiating. Several members of the police department as well as family and friends were present to congratulate Officer Dillon Hlavinka.  

Hlavinka attended East Bernard High School and graduated in 2011. After high school he joined the United States Marine Corps. where he served as an Infantry Machine Gunner. In 2016 he was honorably discharged from the military and moved back to Texas. After the Marine Corps., Hlavinka decided to follow a path into law enforcement. He recently graduated from the Wharton County Junior College Police Academy.  

Hlavinka has always considered himself an artist and loves to draw and design. He finds joy in his family, friends, and the open road while on his motorcycle. He is a God-fearing man with values built on Christian faith. Hlavinka hopes to become involved in the narcotics field, and excel in his job as a police officer, by improving the relationship between law enforcement and the community.
